Recreation and culture

City pools, arenas and fitness centres operate on modified schedules over the holidays. Check out ottawa.ca for facility-specific info. You can also check the operating status of Ottawa’s refrigerated outdoor rinks.

The Ottawa Public Library; Closed on Jan. 1.

The Ottawa Art Gallery is closed on both Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.

Transit

After 5 p.m. on Dec. 31, all OC Transpo bus, O-Train and Para Transpo services are FREE. There will also be a special holiday schedule making extra trips in the evening.

After 1 a.m. on Jan. 1, night bus service will operate until service on a Sunday schedule resumes in the morning – O-Train Line 1 will re-open at 8 a.m.

Transpo’s customer service line (613-741-4390) will take calls from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Dec. 31 and then re-open at 9 a.m. New Year’s Day. All of it’s customer service centres will be closed on Jan. 1.

Para Transpo will offer holiday service on Jan. 1 but all regularly scheduled trips will automatically be cancelled. Customers can book trips by calling 613-244‑7272.

City services

Ottawa City Hall, all client service centres, and the city’s provincial offences court will be closed Jan. 1. The city’s 311 contact centre will remain open for urgent municipal issues.

All city child-care centres will be closed Jan. 1.

The sexual health clinic and satellite clinics will be closed Jan. 1, as will dental clinics and the Ottawa Public Health information centre. The city’s supervised consumption sites will operate on their regular schedules.

Parking

Enjoy free parking at city hall from Dec. 31 at 6 p.m. through til Jan. 2 at 6 a.m. and at the ByWard Market garage at 70 Clarence St. and the Dalhousie garage at 141 Clarence St. from 5 p.m. on New Year’s Eve until 7 a.m. on Jan. 2.
